Microvascular Venous Anastomosis

Falling outside of our traditional orthopaedic specialties, NorthStar supplies the Synovis MCA Coupler. This device enables surgeons to perform a sutureless end to end or end to side venous anastomosis.

Achieving a secure venous anastomosis is a crucial element in the surgical treatment of many cancers. Traditionally this has been carried out through suturing, but an increasing number of leading UK centres are now using the Coupler.

The Coupler offers several benefits over traditional suture methods; it is very fast with a published average anastomotic time of 3.5 minutes, it provids intima to intima contact, it stents the vessel open at the anastomosis site and it simplifies the handling of a significant size discrepency.
