Cryotherapy

Cryotherapy is the process by which localised cooling is applied to an affected area in order to remove body heat. This has the effect of decreasing cellular metabolism which reduces both swelling and pain. Frerquently used by physiotherepists following sports infury or joint arthroplasty, NorthStar supply the IceBand range of cryotherepy bandages.

Designed to be affordable enough for hospitals to give a bandage to each patient so that they can receive the benefits of cryotherepy at home, the IceBand range is available for the shoulder, knee and foot. Placing the cooling elements into a freezer, the patient or physiotherepist has no need for an ice machine or to suspend a chilled water container. Being single patient only, IceBand prevents any possibility of contamination and desiese transmission, and it does not require time intensive hand cleaning.
